Get to know Ophthalmologists Dr. Kenneth R. Smith, who serves the population of Kentucky.

After obtaining his Medical Degree Dr. Smith initially conducted an internship in general surgery before further specializing with an ophthalmology residency at the University of Louisville. During his training, Dr. Smith was honored to be selected as chief resident among his peers. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. To stay up to date in his field he remains a professional member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, International Society of Refractive Surgery, Louisville Academy of Ophthalmology, Kentucky Academy of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is also a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Kenneth R. Smith, MD, FACS, attended the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Louisville, KY, and received his medical degree in 1997. Then, he served his internship at Charleston Area Medical Center – WVSOM (1997-1998) and conducted his ophthalmology residency at the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Louisville, KY (1998-2001), where he was elected Chief Resident. In addition, Dr. Smith received board certification in ophthalmology from the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Smith remains an active member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the International Society of Refractive Surgery, the Louisville Academy of Ophthalmology, the Kentucky Academy of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Moreover, he attained fellowship of the American College of Surgeons.
